Description
As a part of my investigation of “how can art reflect contemporary life”, these artworks started from experimenting with ink and water and minimizing my control over the work. Through relinquishing most control, the work embraces randomness and demonstrates the tension between humanity trying to impose control in an unimposed reality. With little control, these works also lend themselves to a less orderly and fragmented composition that lacks clear direction. This is intentional. I believe both the present and the future, in particular for my generation, is ambiguous in its foundation; this is seen through existentialism and absurdism becoming more mainstream: technology pervading attention/ focus and the commodification of our identities, shaped through an expansive globalized culture.
